The conditions To Renew Car Registration Online In Dubai 

Get your vehicle tested at Road Transport Authority (RTA)-certified testing centers.

To renew a car registration, you must be a UAE/GCC national or a resident of the UAE.

Your car must be insured.

You have to clear all the traffic fines before applying for this service. 

In the event of expired ownership, apply for re-registration.

Car Testing 

If you have a new car, there is no need for testing for the first two years. If your car is older than three years, you have to get it tested. You have to test the vehicle at RTA certified testing centers. The car inspector will inspect your car, and you have to show your Emirates ID and driving license to pay the testing fee of AED 170. It will take only 20 to 40 minutes to complete the test, and it's valid for 30 days. In the case of failure in the test, the owner should have the required repairs done and have to  test again.

Get Car Insurance 

There are various companies that provide car insurance in Dubai. You can take out car insurance in advance by selecting the date of your choice. The insurance companies will set the date accordingly.

It is illegal to drive with expired Insurance in Dubai. If you are caught by RTA, you will be penalized with hefty fines, a minimum of AED 500, and there will be 4 black points added to your licence. Also, the vehicle will be impounded for 7 days.

Pay All Pending Penalties

You have to pay all your pending fines before you go for Mulkiya renewal. You should also clear the black points or blocked fines. The black points can only be paid at the vehicle registration centres. 

Process to Apply for Car Registration Renewal

Through the RTA Website 

Visit the RTA website and login.

Click on “Renew Vehicle Registration” on the top-left menu.

Scroll down to the option “Access to your profile.”

Tap on the “Click here” icon, and you will be redirected to your dashboard (“My RTA e-Services Account”).

Click on the “Click to view and renew your vehicles” option appearing on your dashboard. It will take you to a new tab where you can scroll down to find your relevant car model or licence plate number.

Click on “Vehicle Renewal” there and wait for the new tab to open.

Agree with the website terms and click “Apply for this service.”

Scroll down, and you can find “Proceed to Delivery Method.”

Select your relevant collection point from the drop-down menu and the date for collection. Also, enter your contact details.

Click “Confirm" and proceed to payment.

Wait for the new tab to open. This new tab will have all the information about payable fees and fines. Click “Customer eWallet payment option” on the new tab to pay. 

Wait a few seconds on the website for it to show you an e-receipt of your payment details.

Through the Dubai Drive App

Download the app from the Play Store and other app stores.

Launch the app.

Go to the “RTA Services” section to initiate the online registration process.

Select “My Vehicles” on your dashboard, followed by “Renew Vehicles.” 

Select the delivery method and date, city, address and contact details.

Pay the fees online by credit card.

Wait to get a valid certificate and expiration sticker through your chosen delivery methods.
